This is a dance show that shines light on a mother and her two daughters living under the African Sunset. Through choreography costume and dance it illiterates the love of a mother for her children but also shines a light on differences between the two siblings constantly fighting to be the favorite child. The production teaches valuable lessons, to appreciate and respect your parents as one day they might not be there and you will have to carry the legacy forward.
Starring: Boipelo Monnamorwe, Mpai Thekiso, Teddy B Mhlambi
Boipelo – Born and bred in Bloemfontein in the Free State province, Boipelo started her solo dance career by entering local dance competitions which she frequently came out 1st and 2nd place until she found her break through when she entered the SABC 1 Street Cred competition in 2016 and took the 1st place title and was awarded by Ifani. Ever since then she’s been growing from strength to strength and also being part of the House of Dirty Shakers where she has been an active member in the company since 2019, she has also danced in numerous events including 3 theatre productions being Still Dirty, the critically acclaimed Year of the Butterfly and the 1st digital theatre dance production.
Mpai – In the year of 2016, Mpai joined the House of Dirty Shakers while studying her National Diploma in Tourism Management and has successfully obtained it during a global pandemic COVID-19. Joining the company has been a life changing experience for her, from dancing in school plays to hitting the big stage at the Grahamstown International Festival in 2017, she has not fallen short from the opportunity she has gotten, but seeks to push herself beyond the performing arts itself and getting involved on the administration part of the industry. She believes that life is not only 1 dimensional but many dimensions in a lifetime.
Teddy – A brilliant performer that hails from the Free State, who describes himself as pure art in human form. He prides himself in having to share he’s art with many well know figures, one who stands out for him is Somizi “sharing a stage with a huge figure such as Somizi Mhlongo was a privilege and a dream come true, not only is he great performer/entertainer” Teddy shares. Not only is Teddy a true artist, but he prides himself in his work as a member and advocate for the LGBTQI+. His vision is to pioneer performing arts education in the Free State and personally wants to make a mark in the entertainment industry both locally and internationally.
